Tired Of Dinner, Movie Or Drink? 25 First Date Ideas
March 26, 2012 14 CommentsSpring is in the air! Time to emerge from hibernation, single people — dating season has begun!
But dinner and a movie or meeting a dude for a drink is just so boring. So say I hereby vow that my next first date is going to be something different and unique so, at the very least, I have a good time even if I don’t necessarily make a love connection. (Best case scenario — both occur? Awesome!) We came up with 25 date ideas that don’t simply involve a restaurant, movie ticket, or bar tab.
1. Fly a kite.
2. Walk your dogs at the park or, if you don’t have dogs, watch the dogs at the dog park and discuss which ones you want to take home.
3. Volunteer — plant flowers with the Parks Dept., donate blood, or paint a school.
4. Play Scrabble at a coffee shop.
5. Go to a used bookstore and buy each other one book you think the person should read.
6. Take a hip-hop dance class.
7. Get a psychic reading or have your tarot cards read. Discuss the accuracy — or lack thereof — as a starting point for getting to know each other.
8. Have breakfast before work.
9. See a free outdoor concert.
10. Go to a book reading.
11. Go bowling — winner buys the beer.
12. Go for a hike and bird watch.
13. Play miniature golf.
14. Go gallery hopping and talk about which paintings you’d buy if you were rich.
15. Play ping-pong.
16. Be a tourist in your own city and visit a local attraction that neither of you has ever been to.
17. Ride bikes.
18. Tackle a rock climbing wall.
19. Karaoke!
20. Visit the Planetarium or Natural History Museum.
21. Learn to cook something yummy at the local culinary school.
22. If you’re going to eat dinner, do it progressively, which each course at a different restaurant.
23. Have a picnic in the park with games.
24. Play chess at one of those outdoor tables.
25. Go somewhere with interesting scenery and sketch — then ask strangers to vote on whose drawing is better. Winner buys the loser a drink.

going to a flea market is always a good date idea. it’s cheap, you get the chance to interact with your date in a different sort of setting, and you may come home with a cool reminder of your first date with them!
Do a tasting at a local winery or brewery. Or go canoeing!
I would marry a man in a hot second if he took me canoeing on a first date.
I would assume he was trying to kill me.
lmao
I think you have to be careful with the art gallery one. I went on a date somewhat recently and we started at an Art Museum that had a special exhibit of Rembrant paintings. While interesting and fun, didn’t think about the fact you aren’t really allowed to talk.
When it’s nice out, a drive-in movie theater can be fun.
These are all great but in the end it’s like, who gives a sh*t. When they like you, you don’t like them. When you love them, they are physically ill by your mere presence. The anticipation I have for dating again, is the same anticipation I have for a prostate exam. Although, that might be less painful when it’s over. So bascially
Dating=prostate exam.
These are all awesome, fun date ideas, but I’d prefer to save them for the second date. On the first date, I think it’s just easiest to meet up for a quick drink to see if there is any chemistry (or at least potential for chemistry.) It’s easier to cut a meetup for a drink short than it is to cut short a kite-flying excursion or a trip to a museum.
Netflix and Mc Donalds not cool anymore?
good looking these are some cool ideas. Think ill try to cooking activity. if its nasty no 2nd date for her lol #justsayin
I have to say that I don’t know about going to a psychic or for a tarot card reading…Unless you make them do it about the two of you individually, I think it would be the most awkward thing if the person tells you that you both are a horrible match or they come up with some spot on predictions and things maybe get a little more personal when you wanted to do something fun and goofy. :woot:
I like the list, now all I need is a date to try it out lol
some different yet cool ideas in here
like a picnic. Movies and dinner is just plain and boring i like something that is creative. If we have a conversation and i reveal i like something and he incorporates into a date i’d think it was awesome and shows he’s thoughtful and listens
