Nick Young Signs With Lakers
July 11, 2013 3 CommentsThe Los Angeles Lakers will have signed free agent swingman Nick Young.
Young was one of the handful of perimeter players the Lakers reached out to after free agency began on July 1.
Young’s agent Mark Bartelstein told ESPN’s Marc Stein that the Lakers are an organization he “dreamed” of playing for. Young was raised in Southern California and went to college at USC.
Details of the agreement have not been released, though it is expected to be a veteran’s minimum signing.
The Lakers were interested in signing Young last Summer, but he signed with the Philadelphia 76ers on a one-year, $6 million deal. Young spent the 2012-2013 season with the Sixers as a bench reserve. He averaged 10.6 points per game on 41 percent shooting overall.
Young is the third free agent the Lakers have reached an agreement with. The signing of Chris Kaman has not been announced by the team yet, and there have been no updates on discussions regarding Jordan Farmar’s buyout with the Turkish Basketball League club he intends to leave to return to Los Angeles.
